Enter the raw study score you expect in a subject and see what VTAC scaling does to it — and what it contributes to your ATAR aggregate in the primary-four versus the 10% slots.
VCAA standardises every subject so the state average is 30 — that is the raw study score. VTAC then rescales it against the academic strength of everyone else who took that subject, producing the scaled score that actually feeds your aggregate. In your primary four (English + best three), each scaled point is a full aggregate point; in the 5th and 6th slots, each scaled point is worth 0.1.

Subjects with "—" publish fewer anchor points; the calculator interpolates with a slope of 1 around the raw-30 anchor and caps scaled scores at 55. Data: VTAC 2024 Scaling Report.
A study score is VCAA's standardised measure of your performance in one VCE subject, on a 0-50 scale where 30 is the state average. A 40 puts you in roughly the top 9% of that subject's cohort, 45 in roughly the top 2%.
No. The raw score is your rank within the subject; the scaled score is what VTAC produces after adjusting for the strength of that subject's cohort. Only the scaled score feeds your ATAR aggregate — that is why a raw 30 in Specialist Maths (scaled ~43 in 2024) is worth far more than a raw 30 in General Maths (scaled ~23).
If the subject sits in your primary four, each extra scaled point is one full aggregate point — roughly half an ATAR point in the crowded 80-95 band. If it sits in the 5th or 6th slot, each scaled point contributes only 0.1 aggregate points.
No — study scores are statistically standardised against your school's exam results and the state cohort, so no calculator can reproduce them from SAC marks alone. What you can do (and what this page does) is take a raw score you expect and see what it becomes after VTAC scaling.
VTAC's official 2024 Scaling Report. Anchors between published points are linear interpolations, accurate to roughly half a scaled point.
