Work out your Bangladesh SSC GPA on the 5.00 scale, with the education boards' 4th-subject bonus rule and the one-F rule that fails the whole result.
| Subject grade | 4th subject |
|---|
Enter every subject's grade and tick the box next to your optional 4th subject. SSC covers Class 9 and 10; the same scale is used by Dakhil and SSC Vocational candidates.
| Grade | Grade points | Marks range |
|---|---|---|
| A+ | 5.00 | 80–100% |
| A | 4.00 | 70–79% |
| A− | 3.50 | 60–69% |
| B | 3.00 | 50–59% |
| C | 2.00 | 40–49% |
| D | 1.00 | 33–39% · the lowest pass |
| F | 0.00 | 0–32% · an F in a compulsory subject fails the whole result |
| Input | Result |
|---|---|
| Eight compulsory subjects, all A | 4.00 of 5.00 |
| Six A grades and two A− grades, 4th subject A+ | 4.25 of 5.00 |
| All eight compulsory subjects A+ | 5.00 of 5.00 — Golden A+ |
| One compulsory F | 0.00 — recorded as Failed |
The same 5.00 grading scale, the same 33-mark pass threshold, the same 4th-subject bonus and the same one-F rule apply to the general education boards, the Madrasah board (Dakhil) and the Technical board (SSC Vocational). Only the subject list differs.
SSC covers Class 9 and 10 and is the first public examination that produces a GPA on this scale, so it is the number that follows students into college admission applications, and the one most often compared across schools.
| 4th-subject grade | Grade point | Added to your total |
|---|---|---|
| A+ | 5.00 | +3.00 |
| A | 4.00 | +2.00 |
| A− | 3.50 | +1.50 |
| B | 3.00 | +1.00 |
| C or below | 2.00 or less | +0.00 — the bonus floors at zero |
Note the asymmetry, because it shapes how you should choose the subject: a strong 4th subject is worth up to three full grade points, while a weak one costs you nothing at all. The 4th subject is a one-way bet.
| Stream | Common 4th subjects | Compulsory base subjects |
|---|---|---|
| Science | Biology or Higher Mathematics (whichever you do not take as a main) | Bangla, English, ICT, Physics, Chemistry, plus one of Biology or Higher Mathematics |
| Business Studies | Statistics, or another group elective | Bangla, English, ICT, Accounting, Finance & Banking, Business Organisation & Management, plus Production Management & Marketing |
| Humanities | Sociology, or an additional group elective | Bangla, English, ICT plus your selected group subjects |
Subject combinations vary slightly between colleges, so use the subjects printed on your own marksheet rather than a generic list.
An F in any compulsory subject sets the whole SSC GPA to 0.00 and records the result as Failed. Since the pass mark is 33 in every subject, a single weak paper is enough.
Two routes exist if it happens: board re-scrutiny (khata challenge), which rechecks the arithmetic and whether every answer was marked, and the improvement examination in the following year. Re-scrutiny is not a re-marking — it only catches totaling and marking omissions — so check your board's notice for the deadline and the fee.
The 5.00 scale, the 33-mark pass threshold, the 4th-subject bonus formula and the one-F rule come from the grading system published by the Bangladesh education boards and applied identically to SSC, Dakhil and SSC Vocational results.
Each subject's marks convert to a letter grade and then to a grade point on the 5.00 scale. Add the grade points of your compulsory subjects, add the 4th-subject bonus if you have one, and divide by the number of compulsory subjects.
The scale runs to 5.00 and the pass mark is 33 in each subject. For college admission in competitive institutions, 5.00 is the practical target, and a Golden A+ — an A+ in every compulsory subject — is the result that carries the most weight. Above 4.00 is a solid result.
Yes, but as a bonus rather than an averaged subject. Only the portion of its grade point above 2.00 is added to your total. It can lift your GPA by up to three points and can never lower it.
If it is a compulsory subject, your GPA becomes 0.00 and the result is recorded as Failed regardless of your other grades. If it is your optional 4th subject, you lose only the bonus and your GPA is unaffected.
Yes. Both certificates use the same 5.00 scale, the same 33-mark pass mark, the same 4th-subject bonus and the same one-F rule. SSC covers Class 9–10 and HSC covers Class 11–12, and the subject lists differ by stream.
